Are you looking to replace your mattress? If you are looking for a bedroom upgrade, you will probably find a lot of mattress options.

We put together a review of a mattress brand you may have heard of, to help you find the right one.

The three mattress models offered by the company are at an affordable price point. The brand was launched in 2017:

“The flagship mattress of the company is called America’s Most Comfortable mattress.”

The brand now sells furniture, bedding, and dog beds.

Does the bed live up to the hype? We talk about the good, the bad, and everything in between.

While reviews on the Nectar website are generally positive, over 1,500 complaints have been posted to the company’s Better Business Bureau profile in the last 3 years. With an average of 260 customer reviews on the BBB site, Nectar has an overall rating of 1.17 out of 5 stars.

“The majority of the complaints are about the company’s products. Many recent complaints are marked as resolved by Nectar.”

Trustpilot reviews are similarly negative with an average rating of 1.17 stars and 83 percent of reviewers marking their experience with the company or product as “bad.”

What we like about Nectar Mattress

  • The price tag is affordable.
  • “It’s great for people who want a traditional foam feel.”
  • “It’s good for side and back sleepers.”
  • Free shipping and returns.
  • A risk-free sleep trial and a forever warranty are included.

What we don’t like about Nectar Mattress

  • People who weigh over 230 pounds may not be supported.
  • There is no lack of breathability.
  • Customers had mixed reviews.
  • Many complaints are on the Better Business Bureau.

The price is one of the most attractive features of the mattress. The bed is affordable. The MSRP is shown by size.

Size Price (MSRP)
twin $873
twin XL $1,043
full $1,298
queen $1,398
king $1,698
California king $1,698
split king $2,086

Prices valid as of April 22, 2022, based on the basic Nectar mattress.

The company will occasionally offer discounts, so be on the lookout for that.

Given the affordable pricing, we see Nectar as a solid option for teenagers, college students, and young professionals working with a limited budget. Check for the lowest Nectar price.

Mattress Type Price (Queen) Height (inches) Features
The Nectar memory foam $1,398 12 breathable materials, standard pressure relief
The Nectar Premier memory foam $1,798 13 pressure-relieving foam, cooling gel foam layer
The Nectar Premier Copper Mattress memory foam $2,198 14 additional pressure relief, copper-infused materials

The thickness of the mattress is the main difference. The thicker the mattress, the more support and resilience it provides. The copper fibers in the premier model help cool your body while you sleep.

All Nectar foam mattresses are made up of five separate layers. Foams are CertiPUR-US certified. Nectar says that all mattresses have a medium-firm feel.

Here is a breakdown of the construction from the bottom to the top.

The Nectar

  • Shift-resistant lower cover. This layer essentially keeps the mattress in one piece.
  • Stay-stable base layer. This is a thick 7-inch layer of memory foam that provides additional support for the bed.
  • Dynamic support layer. The company says this layer provides 2 inches of contouring memory foam.
  • Nectar smart layer. This 3-inch layer contains gel memory foam.
  • Quilted cool cover. This is a breathable cover made of poly-blend.

The Nectar Premier

The original Nectar mattress was upgraded to the Nectar premier.

It has a thicker dynamic support layer.

It has a layer with the gel foam material Active Cool HD.

“It is not clear how this material is different from the brand’s regular smart layer.”

The Nectar Premier Copper

The quilted cover of the Nectar Premier Copper model is infused with copper fibers to help with the breathability. It is also thicker at 4 inches, but has an Active Cool HD layer. The support layer is 9 inches thick, but the dynamic support layer is 1 inch thinner.

It is worth noting that the Nectar mattresses are compatible with most foundations. The company states that the mattresses are suitable for a variety of bases.

If you are interested, you can purchase frames and foundations on the website.

“The top three layers of the mattress are made of various memory foams, so you can probably guess what the bed feels like, but let’s not go there. The bed has a foam-like feel.”

We want to point out a couple of things about the feel of the mattress.

Some memory foam beds have a thin, fluffy feel, while others have a more dense feel. The Nectar mattress is in the latter category.

When you first lie down on the bed, it feels somewhat firm, but after a few seconds, the top layers start to mold and conform to the curves of your body. The top layers adapt and remember your body’s shape.

Overall, it’s a very comfortable bed. Most of the team members here seem to really like it. We think it’s safe to say that, if you enjoy this type of adaptive feel, you’d like the Nectar mattress.

If you are looking for an affordable memory foam mattress that feels like traditional foam, the Nectar mattress might be worth it.

“It might not be the right choice for you if you don’t like the quicksand feel of memory foam or like to toss and turn throughout the night.”

The home trial period is a good time to consider if it is right for you, as there are many complaints from customers on the Trustpilot and the Better Business Bureau websites.

People with less weight

“The mattress will feel a little bit softer for people who weigh less than 150 pounds. Less weight reduces the pressure on the bed’s surface.”

The Nectar mattress is likely to be between a 6.5 and 7.5 on the firmness scale for those with less weight.

Given this, the bed is probably best for people with less weight who spend the majority of the night on their back or stomach. If that describes you, then the Nectar mattress provides plenty of support.

If you spend a lot of time on your side, we think the Nectar mattress will definitely work. It’s just probably not the best option out there.

People with less weight will not sink into the soft, forgiving top layers as much as people with more weight.

People with moderate weight

The bed will feel more like the 5.5 to 6.5 range if you have moderate weight.

“The bed lands closer to the middle of the scale for people with moderate weight, so we think it’s good for all sleeping positions.”

Side sleepers who are within this weight category will appreciate how well the top layers alleviate pressure under their hips and shoulders.

Back and stomach sleepers still get the required support under their lower back and core.

People with more weight

The Nectar mattress is not ideal for people with more weight. It will work for them at least. It is a better option than most all-foam bed-in-a-box mattresses because it is thicker and more firm.

For the most part, sleeping on a hybrid mattress that contains coils is a better option for people with more weight.

The type of mattress that you choose depends on the type of coil you choose, as well as the amount of support you need.

DreamCloud has a hybrid mattress that we recommend checking out. The DreamCloud mattress is 15 inches thick and contains several layers of memory foam. It is similar to the Nectar bed in price.

If you happen to share your mattress with a loved one or a pet, you’ll want to consider two more factors before making a final decision.

“We are talking about perimeter support and motion suppression. Let’s tackle them individually.”

Motion suppression

The mattress does a good job. It is not all that bouncy because there are no coils in the mattress. The layers of dense memory foam help to keep the movement to a minimum.

“This is a positive for people who share a bed with a partner or pet that tends to get up a lot during the night. The Nectar mattress won’t make you feel like you’re moving.”

Perimeter support

The Nectar mattress is graded in this area. It is not as good as DreamCloud, but it is not bad either.

The all-foam bed has a little give around the perimeter. If you split a full or queen bed, you will be fine. Spread out and get comfortable.

If you are new to the concept of online bed-in-a-box, you are not alone. The process of using new-age terms is quite simple, even if it sounds confusing. Allow us to explain.

“The bed will be delivered to you within 1 to 2 weeks after you confirm your purchase on the website. Don’t expect the package to look like a mattress just yet. The bed is shrink-wrapped and rolled up.”

Pick up the package and move it to your bedroom. Cut the plastic and put the bed on the frame.

The mattress will expand as soon as you remove the plastic. The process may take 48 hours. It is recommended that you do not sleep on the bed.

This is where the process starts to get interesting. After the bed is delivered, you get a year to sleep on it and test it out. If you find the bed to be too soft, too firm, or just not right for any reason, you can return it and get your money back.

The return process can take 2 to 3 weeks, but if you contact the customer support team you can get there in a few minutes.

You will get your money back regardless of the time. It may take some time for the mattress to be picked up and removed from your home.

The mattress comes with a warranty. The warranty is split into three parts: years 1 through 10 and 10 plus. You can read about it on the company website.

These policies are generous. Most online beds come with a 100 night sleep trial and a 10-year warranty.

How did Healthline get the Nectar mattress?

“We were given the free mattress to test on Healthline’s sister site, Mattress Finder. We did not accept monetary compensation to provide this review. Mattress Finder is an independent website that provides reviews, comparisons and buyer guides. The thoughts and opinions expressed in this article are owned by Healthline.”

How do I contact Nectar customer support if I have additional questions?

You can either email support@nectarsleep.com or call.

Where can I purchase a Nectar mattress?

The company has partnerships with retailers that carry the Nectar beds. You can find an authorized retailer near you using the store locator tool on the Nectar website. The beds are sold online.

Does Nectar sell any other sleep products?

In addition to mattresses, Nectar also offers bed frames, sheets, pillows, and other accessories.

The bed frames that are compatible with the Nectar mattresses are not an option. The wireless remote on the Nectar Bed Frame allows you to adjust the height of the foot and head of your bed. There is a massage feature.

The bed frames come with a trial.

Is the nectar mattress ideal for all sleeping positions?

Because of their medium-firmness, the Nectar mattresses are a good choice for back and side sleepers, but they may not be firm enough for those who prefer to sleep on their tummy.

It is a personal preference. Your weight is a factor in what a mattress feels like. A mattress will feel better if you weigh less.

The memory foam on the Nectar mattress is very soft. The bed is moderately priced, accommodates a wide variety of people, and comes with awesome policies such as a365-night trial period and the forever warranty.

It is not the right bed for everyone. If you dislike memory foam, you will want to look elsewhere. The purple mattress has a gel- or silicone-like feel.

If you weigh over 250 pounds and have kids in bed with you, we recommend a hybrid bed.
